Awards Gala & Reception

The ABIA Annual Awards Gala is the flagship event of the Institute's calendar — celebrating outstanding achievement in Antigua and Barbuda's built environment. The 2024 Gala was hosted at Government House, the official residence of the Governor-General of Antigua and Barbuda, and televised live by ABS Television.

The Honorary Fellowship awards were conferred in the presence of distinguished guests, including His Excellency Sir Rodney Errey Lawrence Williams, GCMG, KGN, KStJ, DSc, PhD (h.c.), MBBS, Governor-General of Antigua and Barbuda; Sir Steadroy "Cutie" Benjamin, KGCN, Attorney General and Minister responsible for Legal Affairs, Public Safety, Immigration and Labour; and the Honourable Everly Paul Chet Greene, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Agriculture, Trade and Barbuda Affairs.

Excellence in Design

Honouring architects whose body of work stands as a testament to design excellence — buildings and spaces that are beautiful, purposeful, and enduring. Includes design, urban design, and preservation.

Object Two

Advancement of Practice

Recognising architects who have raised the standard of architectural practice through exceptional firm leadership, project management, or technical mastery — advancing the science and art of building.

Object Three

Leadership in Architecture

Celebrating architects who have led ABIA or a related professional organisation with distinction — shaping the direction of the profession and earning the respect of their peers over a sustained period.

Object Four

Civic Leadership

For architects who have placed their skills in service of the public good — through government, planning, conservation, transportation, or civic development that has meaningfully improved the built environment and lives of people in Antigua and Barbuda.

Object Five

Service Beyond Architecture

Honouring architects who have gone beyond the drawing board — through volunteer work, alternative careers, or humanitarian service that transcends the practice of architecture and serves as a national model for others.

Object Six

Excellence in Education & Research

Recognising architects who have advanced the profession through teaching, research, writing, or scholarship — work that inspires the next generation and leaves a lasting mark on architectural knowledge.

Nominations are open to all ABIA members in good standing. Nominations typically open three months before the annual gala. Contact the Secretariat for nomination forms and submission guidelines.

Regional Awards
2026 CAA Awards Programme

The Commonwealth Association of Architects (CAA) has opened its 2026 Awards Programme, recognising the work of architects that addresses contemporary challenges including climate change, rapid urbanisation, inequality, and biodiversity loss.

ABIA encourages all eligible members to consider submitting. The awards are free to enter and judged on a regional basis — the Caribbean & Americas region is represented on both the Professional Practice and Education juries.

Winners will be celebrated at the CAA General Assembly at the Aotea Centre, Auckland, New Zealand, 7–10 September 2026.
